Instructions to Authors

ASHRAE Journal reviews current HVAC&R technology of broad interest through publication of application-oriented articles. ASHRAE Journal’s editorial content ranges from back-to-basics features to reviews of emerging technologies, covering the entire spectrum of professional interest from design and construction practices to commissioning and the service life of HVAC&R environmental systems.

ASHRAE Journal Technical Feature

Guidelines

HVAC&R experts write ASHRAE Journal articles, which undergo a double-blind peer review to ensure they meet ASHRAE Journal’s standards for technical accuracy, credibility and practicality. Papers should be about 3,000 words long with no more than eight graphics. We do not accept published white papers or other articles that have been published previously. Please make sure all submitted papers include the following.

☐ Citations are mandatory and need to be cited in the text (10 to 20 citations is the average number for an ASHRAE Journal paper)

☐ Variables in equations must be defined

☐ One-line bio for each author

Abstracts are required. Please submit your paper in Word .doc or PDF format with all graphics, charts and photos embedded in the document itself (as opposed to separate files).

The subject of articles may not be to promote a commercial entity’s  exclusively available commercial product and service. For the full  ASHRAE Commercialism policy, visit https://www.ashrae.org/about/governance/ashrae-commercialism-policy-and-guidelines.
