      Information for authors

      【官网信息】

      About the journal

      Aims and Scope

      Vita

publishes exceptional, high-impact research dedicated to advancing

knowledge across all areas of life and biomedical sciences. Such

research either delivers crucial conceptual advances for understanding

intriguing, significant biological questions or presents disruptive

technological, translational, or clinical breakthroughs. Vita is an open

access journal and maintains a fully international authorship and

readership, with a broad scope spanning both basic mechanistic research

and translational explorations, including but not limited to

biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, neuroscience, immunology,

virology and microbiology, clinical sciences, genetics and

      biotechnology.

      Article types

Core Format Specifications by publication types

      Article

      The

article reports impactful original research with the goal of

disseminating novel findings that advance our understanding of

biological and life sciences. Articles start with a mandatory abstract

with the word count limited to 300. The main text (excluding abstract,

references, figure legends and tables) must be under 7000 words. Each

article may include a maximum of 10 display items (combing tables and

figures), and the number of references is limited to 100 at most.

Additional supporting information will be published online as

      supplementary material.

      Correspondence

      Correspondence

is a short-length format publication which reports concise and novel

finding with conceptual or technical advances offering broad

implications. There is no abstract and no subsections on Introduction,

Results or Discussion. The first paragraph should present sufficient

background information that would allow the readers to appreciate the

background and rationale of the work. It contains only one composite

multi-panel figure, and the main text should not exceed 2500 words

(including title, author names and affiliations, figure legends and

references). There should be no more than 15 references, and the total

number of authors should generally not exceed 15 for a Correspondence.

Additional supporting information, such as Materials and Methods, will

be published online as supplementary information.

      Review

      Review

articles present authoritative overviews of a specific field or topic.

They should provide conceptual frameworks, critical analysis, and a

forward-looking perspective that advances the fields. An unstructured

abstract is required, with a maximum word count of 300 words. The text

(excluding abstract, references, figure legends and tables) can be up to

15000 words. A maximum of 10 tables and/or figures are permitted. The

number of references should not exceed 250.

      Cutting Edge (Invited Only)

      Cutting

Edge is a brief expert commentary on some of the latest exciting

scientific findings as featured in recently published papers, and it is

designed to be broadly accessible to our general readership. It operates

on an invitation-only basis, exclusively welcoming preeminent experts

in the relevant fields. It contains a concise title of 5–6 words,

followed by an abstract of 1–2 sentences at the beginning; there should

be no more than 1 display item, a maximum of 10 references and a total

word limit of 1100 words (encompassing main text, abstract, and figure

      legend).

      Expert views (Invited Only)

      The

manuscript in the Expert Views section presents forward-looking

scientific perspectives, grounded in established experimental data and

scholarly literature. The main text (abstract not required) shall not

exceed 2500 words. A maximum of 2 figures is permitted per manuscript.

The reference list shall be limited to no more than 25 entries.

      How to submit

      Manuscript

All manuscripts must be written in English.

      An

Article manuscript needs to include the following sections: Title,

Author list, Author affiliations and footnotes, Abstract, Introduction,

Results, Discussion, Materials and Methods, Author Contributions,

Competing Interests, References, Figures and/or Tables, and Figure

      legends.

For other publication categories, please refer to Core Format Specifications for their specific requirements.

      Coverletter

      Authors

may choose to include a cover letter when submitting their manuscript.

In this letter, authors can highlight core findings of their work and

its contribution to the field, and may also suggest preferred reviewers

or request certain individuals to be excluded from the review process,

as the letter is only available to the editors and will not be shared

      with the reviewers.

      Online submission

All submissions to Vita must be submitted via our online submission system (https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/vita).

      Pre-submission

      All

pre-submission enquiries should be directed to the editorial office at

vita@vita-journal.com, or submitted via our online submission system

      Submission of Revisions

Submission of a revised manuscript requires the following mandatory materials:

      1)

      A rebuttal letter that responds to reviewers’ comments point-by-point;

if disagreeing with any feedback, include a detailed, evidence-based

      justification for your stance;

      2) A marked-up manuscript that highlights all changes made to address reviewer input;

      3) Also a clean/unmarked version of the revised manuscript.

      Final submission

      These

instructions are only applicable if your manuscript has received

in-principle acceptance for publication and an editor has formally

requested that you submit materials for final processing.

      Main text

      All

textual content—including the manuscript title, main body, references,

and all figure/table legends—must be uploaded as a single, editable

      file, such as microsoft WORD.

      Main figures

      Please

upload main figures as individual, high-resolution image files

(300–600dpi) and do not embed them in the main text. PSD, TIFF and PDF

are the preferred formats for final production files. Figure titles and

legends should be excluded from the image files; instead, these elements

should be placed at the end of the main text. Additionally, all figure

files must bear clear, descriptive names that enable immediate

      identification.

      Figure legends

      Figure

legends should start with a title sentence that summarizes the core

focus of the figure, followed by a brief yet sufficient description of

the figure’s content and key observations that can be understood

      independently of the main text.

      Supplementary Information

      Supplementary

Information (SI) is peer-reviewed material that supports the paper’s

conclusions but is unsuitable for inclusion in the main text. Once the

paper is accepted, upload the finalized SI as a single merged PDF, with

clear section titles (e.g., Supplementary Figure, Supplementary Methods)

and brief legends for all supplementary figures and tables.

      Supplementary Video and Audio files

      One-sentence

title and a short legend need to be included for each video/audio file.

Please upload the descriptive information as a separate editable file

and do not integrate them into the SI PDF. Video/audio must not exceed

500 MB in size, and 5 minutes in length. Each video/audio file needs to

be appropriately cited in the manuscript at least once.

      Specific

requirements for different publication categories can be found in the

detailed instructions enclosed within the decision letters.

      Post-acceptance document

      After

the paper is accepted, the corresponding author(s) is required to

complete and sign the Copyright Statement form on behalf of all

contributing authors, and submit the completed document to the editorial

office via E-mail to the associated editor. Failure to return the form

will cause delays to the manuscript’s publication.
