      Instructions for Authors

      【官网信息】

      1. General Information

      1.1 Authorship

The authors who meet the following four conditions could be added as co-authors. Please refer to ICMJE for details.

      Substantial

contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the

acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; and

Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and

Final approval of the version to be published; and

      Agreement

to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that

questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work

      are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Authors are encouraged to utilize CRediT to delineate the contributions of each author.

      1.2 Types of Journal Articles

      Article:

Articles are definitive accounts of significant and original studies.

They present important new data or provide a fresh approach to an

      established subject.

      Letter:

Letters are usually preliminary reports of special significance and

urgency that are given expedited publication. They are accepted if the

editor believes that their rapid publication will be a service to the

      scientific community.

Review: Reviews integrate, correlate, and evaluate results from published literature on a particular subject.

      Survey:

A survey paper summarizes and organizes recent research results in a

novel way that integrates and adds understanding to work in the field.

It emphasizes the classification of the existing literature, developing a

perspective on the area, and evaluating trends.

      Commentary:

Commentaries are short, narrowly focused articles that are responses to

recently published articles that are interesting enough to warrant

further comment or explanation. This type of commentary discusses

specific issues within a subject area and the previously published

article rather than the whole field.

      Perspective:

Perspectives discuss one or a cluster of recently published papers or a

current research topic of high interest in which an author's

perspective sheds an incisive light on key findings in research.

      Note:

Advanced Cancer Research accepts extended version of conference papers.

However authors should ensure that (1) the extension should be more

than 1/3, (2) copyright permission should have been obtained from the

conference holder, and (3) the original publication should be cited and

the difference from the previous conference publication should be stated

      in the cover letter.

      1.3 Copyright Permission

      Note

that it is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission

from the copyright holder for any figures reused from elsewhere. Please

add references to the figure caption and put appropriate credit lines,

for example: Reprinted with permission [2]. Copyright 2021 Elsevier.

      1.4 Research Ethics

      Studies involving animals

      For

research involving animal experiments, authors should observe the

ARRIVE guidelines . Research procedures must be conducted in line with

national and institutional guidelines. The manuscripts must include a

statement that ethical approval was obtained, including the name of the

Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board, approval date, and

approval number. If ethical approval is not required, authors must

provide an exemption from the Ethics Committee or Institutional Review

Board, or a detailed statement why approval is not required. We

recommend that authors comply with the IUCN Policy Statement on Research

Involving Species at Risk of Extinction and follow the American

Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Guidelines for the Euthanasia of

Animals (2020) as veterinary best practice for anesthesia and euthanasia

      of animals.

      Studies involving humans

      Research

involving human experiments, must comply with the Declaration of

Helsinki. An ethical approval statement including the name of the Ethics

Committee or Institutional Review Board, approval date, and approval

number must be included. If the research is granted an exemption of

ethical approval, the authors must give a detailed statement of

exemption including the name of Ethics Committee.

Research involving human embryos, gametes, and stem cells

      Researchers

must adhere to all applicable local, national, and international laws,

regulations, and ethical standards governing research involving human

embryos, gametes, and stem cells. Authors are required to obtain prior

approval from an appropriate institutional ethics committee and informed

consent from all donors of cells or tissues, where applicable.

Documentation of ethical approval and consent must be available upon

request and should be clearly stated in the manuscript. We recommend the

authors to follow the principles laid out in the 2016 ISSCR Guidelines

for Stem Cell Research and Clinical Translation.

      Consent to participate

      Authors

are encouraged to adhere to the Recommendations for the Conduct,

Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical

Journals and include informed consent information in the method section

for experiments involving human participants in the manuscript. For

human transplantation studies, it is essential to confirm that organs or

tissues were not obtained from individuals in custody and specify the

relevant institutions, clinics, or departments from which organs/tissues

were sourced. Authors should also be prepared to furnish documentary

evidence of obtained consent upon request.

      Clinical trials

      Authors

are required to follow the CONSORT statement for comprehensive

reporting of randomized controlled trials, and submit the recommended

checklist with their manuscripts upon submission. Additionally, clinical

trials should be registered in accordance with ICMJE criteria,

including the registration number in acknowledgments and providing a

citation link to the registration as a reference.

      1.5 Research Data

      ELSP

is determined to improve knowledge exchange among scientists and

facilitate open science. We encourage authors to share the research data

to the open repository, such as general data, Figshare, Dryad, Harvard

Dataverse, Zenodo; computer software or code, GitHub. The research data

could be published as Supporting Information together with the paper if

there are limited research data. For studies involving sequencing data,

authors are required to provide the name of the data repository, the

accession number(s), and the corresponding link(s) in the Data

      Availability Statement.

1.6 Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted Technologies

      Authors

must disclose any use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools (such as

large language models) in the preparation of this manuscript. Such tools

are permitted only for language or copy editing purposes. Authors

remain fully responsible for the integrity, originality, and accuracy of

      the content.

      Example statements:

The authors did not use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing of this manuscript.

      During

the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used generative AI

tools only to improve language and readability. Specifically, the

authors used ChatGPT, Grammarly, etc. for language polishing only/for

drafting/for rewriting/for idea development in limited

sections/substantial portions/entire manuscript. The authors take full

responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

      1.7 Tables

      It

is author’s responsibility to ensure that the figures are legible and

technically correct. Therefore you must ensure that the resolution of

figures should be at least 300 ppi. Figures must have captions that

include figure number and a brief, informative description preferably in

a non-sentence format. Text in the figure legend must have the same

font style (Times News Roman) and size (16px). Figures must be numbered

sequentially using Arabic numerals in order of discussion in the

document (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.) and parts of a figure are

typically indicated with a number and letter (e.g. Figure 1(a), Figure

1(b), etc.). The accepted formats are JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PDF, and

Graphical source files. For original research papers, the number of

figures in the main text should preferably be limited to eight

(excluding the graphical abstract). For Review articles, the combined

total of figures and tables should preferably be limited to six.

      2. Manuscript Submission

      Please

use ELSP Journal Manuscript Platform to submit your paper. You are

recommended to provide a cover letter during submission and the cover

letter should include: (1) the novelty and significance of your

manuscript, (2) an explanation of how it fits well into the journal’s

scope, and (3) the manuscript should not be submitted to any other

      journal for publication.

Please ensure you provide all relevant editable source files for every submission.

      2.1 Reviewers Recommendation

      For

an original research paper, normally, the manuscript should be

presented in the sequence: title, authors, abstract, keywords,

introduction, method, results, conclusion, and acknowledgements. For

other types of papers, the author decides the sections and subsections.

Please find the detailed guidelines for manuscript structure in the Word template and Latex template mentioned above.

      3.4 Reference Preparation

      Direct

quotations from another author's work should be cited. For publications

that are Accepted or Submitted or In preparation, please just add a

note at the end of the corresponding reference.

      References

should be indicated in square brackets in line with the text. Author

names can be referred to, but the reference number(s) must always be

provided. Furthermore, references (numbers in square brackets) should be

numbered in the order in which they appear in the text.

Please find the detailed reference formatting guidelines in the Word template and Latex template mentioned above.
