      Guide for Authors

      【官网信息】

      About the journal

      Aims and scope

      Emerging

Contaminants is a leading platform for research addressing the

potential ecological and human health risks associated with

      environmental contamination from emerging contaminants.

      The

journal publishes experimental or theoretical work that deepen

scientific understanding of the nature, scope and impacts of emerging

contaminants in the environment; technologies leveraging novel

principles for reducing and controlling or mitigation of their emission

and presence; as well as the development, implementation and efficacy of

national and international policies aimed at protecting ecosystem and

      human health from these contaminants.

Current topics considered for publication in Emerging Contaminants include:

      I. Environmental Occurrence and Behaviour

Methodology for identification of emerging contaminants by suspect or non-target analysis

Screening and prioritisation of emerging contaminants

Occurrence, fate, transport, and behavior of emerging contaminants in natural and engineered systems

      Biogeochemical cycles of emerging contaminants

II. Ecological and Human Health Impacts

Toxicology and the underlying mechanisms of emerging contaminants at the cellular, organismal, community or ecosystem level

Exposure to, effects and risks of emerging contaminants

III. Treatment, Remediation, and Resource Recovery

Emission reduction of emerging contaminants from various sources

Degradation and treatment of emerging contaminants in multiple environment

Remediation of contaminated sites by emerging contaminants

Resources recovery and disposal of wastes containing emerging contaminants

      IV. Risk Mitigation and Policy

Sustainable strategies for risk mitigation of emerging contaminants

National and international polices and management practices for emerging contaminants

      Emerging

contaminants are defined as synthetic or naturally occurring chemicals

or biological agents that are not currently (or have been only recently)

regulated and about which there exist concerns regarding their impact

on ecosystem and/or human health. The risks associated with these

contaminants are not fully understood at present.

Examples of emerging contaminants that are of current interest include:

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as flame retardants, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), UV filters, etc.

Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs)

      Endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs)

      Micro- and nano-plastics

      Plastic additives, e.g. plasticisers

      Food and feed additives

      Disinfection by-products (DBPs)

      Cyanotoxins

      Nanoparticles

      Mercury

      Radionuclides and nuclear waste

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria or antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs)

      Pathogenic bacteria, viruses

      Liquid crystal monomers

      Environmentally persistent free radicals

      Organometallic compounds

Substances of unknown or variable compositions, complex reaction or degradation products

      Editorial Board

      Article types

      Full-length/ Research Article

A complete report on original research and/or clinical studies

      A structured abstract is required.

A clear structure is required, which should contain but not confined to the following sections:

      Introduction

      Material and methods

      Results

      Discussion

      Conclusions

Authors' contribution (For details please visit the link.)

      Ethic statement

      COI

      (acknowledgments/clarification)

      Bibliography

      Appendices (including multimedia components)

      Review Article

      A

substantial overviews present a complete overview of the state of the

art with a comprehensive bibliography, generally, also contains a table

of contents. It should cover topics that have seen significant

development or progress in recent years, with comprehensive depth and a

balanced perspective. Review articles should NOT include unpublished

material such as unpublished/original data, submitted manuscripts, or

      personal communication.

      Mini Review

      A

succinct and clear summary that covers focused aspects of a current

area of investigation and its recent developments, providing up-to-date

      developments, concepts, etc.

      Editorial

Generally from the (guest) editor of the publication. Can be Foreword, Editorial, Guest Editorial, Preface, etc.

      Short Communication

      Short

report or announcement of research, usually claiming certain results,

which present original and significant material for rapid dissemination.

Short Communications are expected to have a higher than average impact

on the field rather than report on incremental research.

      Perspective

      An

article presents a new and unique viewpoint on existing problems,

fundamental concepts, or prevalent notions on a specific topic, propose

and support a new hypothesis, or discuss the implications of a newly

implemented innovation. Perspective pieces may focus on current advances

and future directions on a topic and may include original data as well

      as personal opinion.

      As

a guideline, Perspective should not normally exceed 3,000 words.

Perspectives allow up to 30 references; citations should be selective.

Perspectives should include no more than 4 display items (figures,

      tables and/or boxes).

      Case Study

      An

article that presents an in-depth examination of a real-world

environmental instance, such as a specific site, intervention,

technology deployment or policy application. It offers rich, contextual

insights into complex environmental phenomena, decisions, and outcomes.
