分词代替形容词
话不多说，我们直接看例子:
The expected prevalence of mental retardation, based on the assumption that intelligence is normally distributed, is about 2.5%.
这里based on assumption that...是“基于...的设想”的意思，其实直接说“设想....”就可以了，所以我们可以改成assuming that...，直接省掉3个单词。
此外，metal retardation这个词带有歧视含义，是不礼貌的，所以我们应该改成intellectual disability才合适！
因此，上述例句应该改为：
The expected prevalence of intellectual disability, assuming that intelligence is normally distributed, is about 2.5%.
动词代替形容词
例子：
Anti-inflammatory drugs may be protective for the occurrence of Alzheimer’s Disease。
这句话本身是没有任何语法、拼写、结构问题的。在这里作为SCI精简技巧的例子，我们可以把be protective 用protect替代就可以了，即用动词代替形容词！
因此，上述例句应该改为：
Anti-inflammatory drugs may protect against the occurrence of Alzheimer’s Disease。
